Thank you for joining me on this new journey of opening a pediatric home/community Occupational Therapy practice! I can vividly remember sitting in a high school science class discussing the careers each student planned to pursue. When my turn came, I said I wanted to follow in my grandfather’s footsteps and be a Physical Therapist, because I enjoyed learning about anatomy and physiology and wanted to help people!
In college, I pursued a degree in Health Promotions. My plan was to serve as a foreign missionary, setting up health clinics in impoverished communities. God had a different plan for my life. When it came time for me to take my first step toward missions, the economy crashed and I wasn’t able to go to South America.
As it turned out, it was during the time I would have been overseas that I met the man who would be my husband. I’m so glad that God directed my path and not me. I can’t imagine life without Tyler by my side.
During our two dating years, I learned – for the first time – about Occupational Therapy! When I learned that this profession would allow me to combine creativity and fun to help people increase their functionality, I was all-in and I quickly made the switch to OT!
Tyler and I got married while I was pursuing my Master’s in Occupational Therapy. Since that time, he has supported me as I pursued my career in OT. Along the way, I noticed a rising desire within me to start my own business. This desire only grew stronger as I became more aware of the burden that health insurance companies place on providers and the ethical dilemmas that arose from them. I wanted to open my own 100% cash-based practice for many reasons – one being that I can stay true to my high ethical standards. As I launch this business, I do so resolved to work for my clients…not insurance companies.
From August 2017 to August 2018, our family has been in a season of transition. We have trusted Him to show us the way forward and give us roots. He’s done it, and in the meantime, we have been refreshed and have grown as husband and wife, as parents, and as individuals. Without this season, I would not be opening Kaleidoscope OT in the Fredericksburg, VA and surrounding areas! It is something that is new and stretching, but also very exciting!
I decided to name the practice Kaleidoscope because of the beautiful images created with each turn. I also believe that each child is wonderfully and beautifully made by God, just like the beautiful images in a kaleidoscope. I am excited to play a role in the development of each child! And with each “turn,” see them reach a new level of functionality. I pray that through this practice, each child – regardless of difficulties – would embrace who God has made them to be, enhance their ability to function at an age-appropriate level of independence, and be empowered with the skills and resources to live their lives to the fullest!
Psalm 139:13-14 “For you created my inmost being; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
I hope you will join me on this journey in one of the following ways:

- Share this website or contact me for a consultation and/or evaluation! I look forward to meeting so many new friends!
So excited for you, Tyler and your boys in this new season! You’re a natural in this profession!
